Cards are in win now mode. Nootbaar and Gorman are currently the probable starters for the beginning of the season. Would imagine Cards are waiting to see who is healthy in April and hoping to move the odd man out of the outfield for a MOR or higher pitcher.

Trading Nootbaar opens LF for Jordan Walker Gorman is a better fit at 3B everyday for Oakland, he cant ever play his natural position for STL A's lineup on Opening Day: 1B Aguilar 2B Peterson SS Allen 3B Gorman C Langeliers LF Nootbaar CF Ruiz RF Laureano DH Diaz Bench Kemp, Pina, Noda, Pache Cardinals lineup: 1B Goldschmidt 2B Donovan SS Edman 3B Arenado C Contreras LF Walker CF O'Neill RF Carlson DH Brown Bench Yepez, Knizner, Burleson, DeJong

A's are *extremely* unlikely to deal prospects. Waldichuk stands a good chance of making a rotation that would be headed by Blackburn (who they expect to rebound from injury and his current value is selling low) ... so the A's would suddenly have to find two more starting pitchers halfway through spring training. OR ... they never consider this trade.
