2Big Time Trade here, this is assuming the Giants get one of the big-name shortstops and turn to their outfield next. Cubs probably would want some MLB talent here and Cobb would fit nicely into their rotation with Crawford taking over SS and Hoerner sliding to 2nd (also assuming the Cubs don't get one of the big-name shortstops). Thoughts?
This deal is DOA when Brandon Crawford, the lifelong Bay Area native, refuses to waive his full no-trade clause to keep him with the only pro team he's ever known: the winning Bay Area team. Aside from that, the Giants can just keep Schmitt & Villar and sign Brandon Nimmo for straight cash money if they'd prefer.
