I don't see anything here to motivate the Guardians to trade Espino. Basallo is not a Cleveland type of catcher.

Isn’t Espino injury career threatening?

temporary account

No, there has been no talk of that at all.

I don’t think Espino has any trade value whatsoever right now and is probably 2 years away from recovering any.

Espino just turned 22 years old with tremendous potential. He has trade value. Reports are that he will be out 12-14 months. He will then still be 23. He still does have good value.

If people equally hate and love this deal, I'm gonna take it that I was generally on the right path . I'm neither Guardians, nor Orioles fan, and appreciate the feedback everyone has left!

Cleveland for sure wants nothing to do with this deal...

I wouldn't trade Baltimore Micah Pries straight up for Mayo because Pries is a better all around player. Santander is terrible defensively and doesn't get on base. OGon is just as good or better. Clearly you're not familiar with Cleveland's system. They just drafted 3 good young C in last year's international draft. They have no interest in giving up Espino and Quantrill for him. Chernoff would have to eat a whole bag of shrooms to get tricked into making this terrible deal.
