2The Cash is just to post the trade. Would like to hear input from the fans of both sides to see how they feel about this. I don't believe India fits the contention window of the reds, and holding him through his mid/late arb years may be a disadvantageous risk. India is hitting again this year- but Cincinatee hasn't graduated enough of it's future core to care about the cultural effects of 100+ loss seasons. The park factors in cinci/low budget make me particularly worried about their ability to add FA pitching talent - and I still believe brash could flourish. I understand Seattle would be hesitant to part with Gonzalez, but I don't believe that low-A standouts are the path toward solidifying this outfield. The rotation is blossoming with young talent, and Hancock is likely viewed as an organizational trade chip, rather than future contributor imo. There is significant risk on either side, but I feel like it might be more balanced that I would suspect Seattle/Cinci fans feel it to be. As always, I would love to hear any feedback!
I'm a Cincinnati fan and think India is one of their best assets, but if the Reds are smart, they should trade from their only position of strength and get what they can out of India while his value is high. The Reds have some exciting prospects that can play up the middle and should be getting playing time before the end of the season. I think the Reds should have a lot of interest in young, high risk/reward players like Gonzalez and Hancock, but I don't think Brash fits their model right now. Swap out Brash for one more top 30 prospect, and I think you'd have a deal. I'd hate to see India go; he's such a great presence on the team. However, the Reds are going to be a sub .500 team this year with or without him. He'd be better off in Seattle where they are trying to make things happen, and he could help out at second or third base.
