1A lot of ifs to this trade, but with the pitcher's trade market looking so slim would it make sense for a contending team to take advantage of the potential depth of their own team to fill in holes? This trade would come with the assumption that 1) Harper is playing 1st base and performing adequately at the position, enabling Schwarber to DH 2) Painter comes back and is healthy and performing well in the rotation 3) Wheeler looks like an ace again 4) Ranger is fully healthy and up to 100 pitches 5) Walker is back throwing strikes 6) Falter is an adequate 5 that eats innings and gives the offense a chance. 7) Nola appears that he won't resign 8) The O's are still in the playoff hunt. Needless to say, a lot would have to happen and the likelihood is minuscule, but would this be something the O's would be willing to do to get a top-of-the-rotation vet (that they should have been looking at in the offseason)?
