Yankees have hole in LF and a right handed dominated lineup. Conforto has been hitting well (121 OPS+) , and will probably trigger his opt out for next season. The Yankees rotation has been hit by injuries, Cobb has quietly been dominant (141 ERA+), has a club option for next year at $10m. The Yankees are over the tax, Giants are under, if SF pays the salaries of Conforto and Cobb for this year, it probably saves the Yankees something like $22m. Peraza seems to be the odd man out in NY, struggling at the plate this year and Volpe getting the bulk of the time at SS. This would give the Yankees a deeper, more balance lineup and probably one of the top arms available this trade deadline. The Giants are the most boring team in baseball and on the fringe of playoff contention. I'd gladly trade any playoff run this year for a chance at Ohtani this offseason. This clears payroll for next year and gives them a SS of the future. The SS market this offseason is horrible, including Brandon Crawford who is a FA. Getting someone like Peraza would prevent the Giants from overpaying someone like Rosario or Kiner-Falefa. Like I said above, Conforto is likely to meet the requirements to trigger his opt out and Cobb is 35, might be time to sell high on him.
