2The Cubs gain a long side platoon (albeit expensive) and a lefty RP arm they desperately need. The Rockies get a young switch hitting 3B who is about to about to be seen at the all-star game lead up, a project LH OF with potential and a RH SP that needs a change of scenery after his quick rise through the Giants/Cubs farm system, only to falter at the big league level. The cash helps with McMahon's bloated salary...I would actually make it 10-12 mil.
Additionally, this move gets money off the books in COL as the Rockies get to sell high on McMahon while unloading Hand too.
