This trade gives the Yankees their left fielder, that can capably cover CF if needed. Pittsburgh gets four of the Yankees top prospects, including The Martian and Everson Pereira who both may be blocked in the Yankees organization after this move. Schmidt gives Pitt an MLB ready starting pitcher with five years of team control left. Wells is a slugger that will probably need to move off catcher, but the hit tool seems for real.
