👎, Luis Urias is an interesting buy low by Bloom. He was a 2+ WAR player each of the last two years with a WRC+ of 112 and 110. He takes walks and has power. Could be a potential everyday option at 2B either later this year or next if he can find his previous form. Blaylock is R5 eligible this winter and is/was below several other arms who needed to be protected. He is still a few years away from the majors, so it would have been tough for the Red Sox to protect him. Getting an asset for him now is a nice piece of business. But another right handed 2B?

The Red Sox announced today that Christian Arroyo was designated for assignment and that they’ve activated deadline acquisition Luis Urias and added him to the Major League roster.

Would've gladly sent LHH 2B/LF Tony Kemp(1.6 and pretty much no reason for him to have not been traded) to Boston for Blalock. Looked into Urias as a possible 3B upgrade for the A's but the $ and limited control makes it an unwise investment. Not so much an issue for the Sawx. Upvote for all three(Brewers Red Sox BBTV).

Bradley Blalock sits ~94 mph, tops out at 97. Throws strikes. Secondaries include splitter, SL & CB, but are inconsistent. Split at 86-88 is new & has improved as the season has gone on. Likely profiles best as a RP, but is an intriguing arm. After missing 2022 due to Tommy John Surgery, he's enjoyed a solid 2023 including a 2.19 ERA over 53.1 IP at Single-A and High-A. Based on the moves made at the deadline Bloom and company must really be counting on Story, Sale, Whitlock and Houck maybe even Kluber.
