4This only if Oakland decided to go all in for 1 year and Boston just let this season go unless they figured out other ways to contend of course but this would get some money off their books and Oakland would get some bull pen/rotation help and all else fails trade evoldi next off season but obviously doubt this would happen
A's fans have fantasized a bit about getting a guy like Betts to get them over the hump, so this isn't crazy. On the other hand, I don't see them taking on this kind of budget hit, even with the cash -- that's a net of around $45M they'd be assuming. That part seems unlikely.
Doubt they would go after both but can see at least Betts and maybe a cheaper bull pen guy they have a history of swapping big name guys in the pass Cespedes if I'm not mistaken so possibly could happen without Evoldi
Another question: Who's going to catch for the A's? They are better off sending Montas instead of Murphy, which would save them money or get them a better prospect than Groome.
