This relies on Pujols vetoing his no trade clause, so I doubt it could even happen if both sides agreed to this, but the salaries of Duffy/Perez - Pujols matched up too well for me not to experiment with this trade. The Angels need to upgrade at catcher and pitching next year, this trade gives them a legitimate starting catcher with gold glove abilities behind the plate and a good reputation with handling pitchers, but a bat that provides pop but belong more at the bottom of the order due to on-base issues. Duffy gives The Angels a veteran pitcher who could pitch at the bottom of the rotation, or return to the pen where he was dominant before. They also get Hill who serves as a valuable left handed reliever with a funky delivery. By getting rid of the Pujols contract, the Angels get to upgrade at 3 spots here for 0 cost, which helps them be players for multiple pitchers in free agency. The Royals give up an overrated, though still valuable, fan favorite in Perez. The same can honestly be said to a lesser degree for Duffy. Losing Hill sucks, but he doesn't really do much for a 100 loss team. The Royals in return get a handful of young prospect who all start next year in either A-Ball or in the rookie leagues. Adams is close to top 100 prospect level just based off his potential as a 5-tool player. Jackson is a 2B prospect who has shown very intriguing power potential as a pro, but is striking out at a level that could cause him to never reach the big leagues. Kochanowicz and Paris were high draft picks in 2019, and will basically start their pro-careers in 2020. Ramirez is an intriguing DSL prospect who put up interesting numbers this summer, but is still soo young that he more serves as a particularly intriguing lottery prospect. Thoughts?
