Jonah Bride has no upside. Austin Shenton does. A team like the Marlins should give him a serious look. The Rays want that 40 man spot and a possible future reliever. All winners.

Hey ShaquilleOatmeal, NOVEMBER 19: Rule 5 protection deadline. Teams must add players who would otherwise be eligible for the Rule 5 draft to their 40-man roster by this date to keep them out of the draft. Maybe there will be some activity on the trade market soon. Who’s on your teams bubble list that might get moved in the next 7 days? Got any “keep an eye on this guy” you’d like to share?

Thanks for asking! My bubble list is Alfredo Zarraga, Bob Seymour, and Tanner Murray. Zarraga is undersized but hits triple digits with a 32% K rate in AA last year. Murray would have played more SS if not for sharing the field with Carson Williams. He'll never be a star, but a league average bat that can play SS is still possible. Bob Seymour is a semi fat dude LH 1B/DH with prolific power. He got a chance to play full time this year rather than platooning, and responded with a 140 wRC+ in AA and a 140 wRC+ in AAA. I have a hard time believing a team won't give him a shot. The Rays have so many 1b/DH types, I think they move someone. 1B/DH is clearly their excess spot. I consider all of Brandon Lowe, Yandy Diaz, Christofer Morel, Jonathon Aranda, Curtis Mead, Bob Seymour, and Austin Shenton as best suited for 1B/DH. Brandon Lowe has such a great bat, but can't stay healthy. Keep him on the field by getting him off 2b. That's just too many 1B. I expect Yandy or BLowe and multiple of Mead/Shenton/Seymour to be moved. The Rays won't keep 5-7 1B on a 40 man roster.

Bob Seymour isn’t listed so he’d have to be a PTBNL

Storm would be a good get for Shenton.

Agree. The Marlins are so hard to read. But I'd like to see them add a controllable bat at the corners.

How about you mp2891, same 3? Others?

I see 2 must protects for the Rays - I.Seymour and E.Reifert. My maybes are J.Mangum, B.Seymour (but only if the Rays are trading at least 1 of Aranda, Shenton, B.Lowe or Y.Diaz), Zarraga, M.Flynn, and J.Rock. I would not be surprised if they protected Wilcox or Workman either, but that’s because I am still drinking their koolaide.
