Mets get to stabilize a rotation that’s going to be vital in their success. This gives them deGrom, Scherzer, Bassitt, Manaea, Walker/Carrasco. They need at least 6 ML starters and they know it because of the injury risk in this rotation. This still gives them Peterson as a AAA depth option or LHRP. Athletics acquire a young promising mid-back rotation arm in MeGill, Lee a promising OF prospect who could benefit from consistent playing time during the rebuild. Guillorme gives them an inexpensive slick fielding infield bench piece. While JD Davis gives them a good bat for the DH hole and possible insurance should a no brained Matt Chapman offer come Oakland’s way. One trade always sets up the next in Oakland and I think this would be good for their current window. Could even swap LHP David Peterson in instead of Guillorme so the Athletics can get back two young inexpensive starters to take Bassitt & Manaea rotation spots.
