Cubs give up: Hoerner (let Shaw play), Alcantara (blocked by Bellinger and later on Caissie), and Triantos (no room in infield). Cubs receive: An Ace in Crochet and a bullpen piece or future starter in Emerson Hancock. Sox give up: Crochet at max value. Sox receive: 3 top 100 prospects who are mostly major league ready. Mariners give up: Cole Young (they have an abundance of infield prospects) and Emerson Hancock (is bad and has no place on the team). Mariners get: Nico Hoerner (high contact hitter and one of the best defensive 2B in the league) and Pedro Ramirez, a lottery ticket prospect.

If there was one flaw in the trade, it would be that the Mariners might be hesitant to “only” get Hoerner and would ask for slightly more.
