1Ok let’s start off with my team. Amazing AMAZING trade for the Cubs. Did I make it that way purposely? perhaps. But let’s see who they get. They get Luis Castillo, who’s a great starter with a pretty heavy contract, a top catching prospect in AA in Harry Ford, and a reliever with a high ceiling in Gregory Santos. Why do the mariners do this? This deal would free about $10 for them in payroll, which is huge for what they’re trying to do. It also gives players from high depth or blocked positions in exchange for their two biggest needs: good, high contact bats. Triantos has bat over .300 most of his time in the minors, and has proved himself in AAA enough to warrant a call up at the start of next year. Hoerner has already proved himself as a gold glove winner and high contact bat for a few years now. The biggest problem is that he’s currently injured, but hopefully he’ll be ready by the start of the regular season.
