No offense to Angels fans, but about the only significant trade I see happening between the Rays and Angels is one that has the Angels sending Christian Moore to the Rays. The rest of the entire Angels system (Major League and Minor League) doesn't interest me much for the Rays, or involves a player that I can’t see the Angels trading (e.g., Neto). Sure, there are small pieces that I like (e.g., Lugo), but Moore is the only big trade piece the Angels have that could swing a trade like this. Take Detmers... What's the point of swapping 2 years of Springs for 3 years of Detmers when the Rays aren't competing for the playoffs in 2025 (or probably 2026), have a 7 man rotation already, are looking to cut salary (Detmers makes as much as Springs on an AAV basis), and where a healthy Springs is a much much better pitcher than Detmers? It just doesn't work for the Rays, regardless of the trade values they have.
