I'm not into this one. Why would the Braves swap a top tier catcher and three pitchers who are pretty decent? They get back two prospects? Is it just to be silly?

two top prospects, gotta plan for the future or you won't be top tier, plus Braves have pitching.
Sean Murphy for 6 years, Elder & Lee for 5, Ynoa for 4 ... that's a good plan for the future.
Agree. The Braves have spent the off season taking on salary in order to get prospects. They're not shipping out current wins to get back future wins. Additionally, the Rays are getting way more expensive without getting any better. Josh Lowe is a 3-5 win OF making league minimum. He's not getting moved.
Agreed on the Rays' side of this trade. Murphy is great, but the Rays don't want any of the other 3 guys and they definitely won't be moving J.Lowe.
The only salary to get prospects that I can recall is they traded for Marco Gonzales and Max Stassi and flipped them for PTBNL. But it was really all about Jared Kelenic and David Fletcher to a lesser extent and they're not prospects.
