Please sell me on why in the world the Twins do this

OK. I'm new at putting these together and I do see a flaw here but main point is Twins need SP they get 2 for 1. Rays IMO need someone at Catcher and they have a hole at SS. Twins don't really have a need at 2nd and it's a bit lopsided, granted.

If you know anything about the Rays trade preferences, then you know they don't do big quantity/quality trades and they never trade FOR high trade value players. Rays say no to this deal for those reasons. They also won't be interested in creating a hole at CF to plug a hole somewhere else, so Siri will need to come out of the trade. Pinto is their only catcher on the active roster, so swapping him for Jeffers still leaves them with a hole at catcher. He will need to come out too. Rays are short on pitching, so they aren't trading Eflin and Pepiot for Ryan, as that puts them 1 down in the rotation. Plus, the Rays traded Ryan to the Twins to begin with. While we may all think that was a mistake, the Rays may not want him back for reasons we don't know.
