4Jorge Polanco is likely on the trade block so the Twins can give time and roster spots to younger guys. The Mariners seem like a good partner given they got poor production from the position last year and have plenty of young pitchers to deal. Twins could conceivably shuffle around Hancock, Varland, SWR, and Festa and avoid signing a FA starter.
As a Mariner fan, I probably do this. 6 years of control is a lot but Hancock has had injury issues. He may in fact be 100 healthy now and there might not be any reason to have concerns about the future. The Mariners obviously have the best knowledge about that. The Twins should definitely due their due diligence before pulling the trigger on Hancock
I see no reason to add in Brown but If the Twins like Hancock I would think they’d jump all over the opportunity to acquire 6 years of control of him for Polanco and shed $20m in salary commitment.
Yea. I can dream. Throwing in the extra guy really depends on how the buyers market develops.
