Brian Reynolds is a very good player and the Pirates are not a very good team. I don't expect them to be a winning team this year or even next. Do you? If the Pirates are going to trade him it isn't going to be because he's too expensive for them. It's just all about if he's contracted for three years and for these first two the they're not good, then why not exchange him for something that fits your needs better. What do you think Pittsburgh needs? A shortstop like Braden Shewmake? If this team has position strength over the next several seasons I'd pick the right side of the infield last. I liked Shewmake's glove work in 2021 but his bat wasn't good. 2022 was better. I had always expected that he was a good hitter so that was a step in the right direction. Injuries didn't help make his case last year. Spring Training 2023 found him looking good and maybe he's unlocked something really good. He's just not a good match for the Pirates. Ian Anderson? Returning to the "Pirates aren't good in '23 or '24", why would they want Anderson now? Playing the long game, get him right, and then flip him? Is he a "change of scenery" sort of player? Do the Pirates have a top pitching guru? Wright's good, he's good now. He's the big return for the Pirates here. Why punt on half the years of his control if the Pirates aren't competitive this year and for next? For me, this trade's like Swiss cheese that someone left out on the kitchen counter some time yesterday. It's full of holes, it's not good to consume because someone was careless. Sorry William, I just don't think it's a good trade idea.
